How Mankato Clinic Boosted Both Clinician Productivity and Patient Experience with Nabla
Every clinician speciality that saw double-digit productivity gains also reported double-digit increases in patient satisfaction
Mankato Clinic, one of Minnesota’s largest independent physician-owned health systems, has been serving its community for more than a century with a strong commitment to patient-centered care. Like many health systems, Mankato clinicians were burdened by extensive documentation requirements, which limited patient interaction time and contributed to provider fatigue. The clinic sought a solution that could simultaneously improve clinician productivity and enhance the patient experience.
The study compared performance metrics for the twelve months before and after the adoption of Nabla, an advanced ambient AI technology used to support clinical documentation during patient encounters. Over 100 healthcare providers at Mankato Clinic in southern Minnesota used the technology more than 8,000 times to assist with visits.
Between May 2024 and May 2025, Nabla was used by 102 clinicians in 8,208 patient encounters. Nearly half of the clinicians were heavy users, with 48 providers using the ambient technology in at least 100 encounters each.
The clinicians using Nabla represented a wide range of ages, experience levels, and specialties. To be included in the study, clinicians had to meet two criteria: they must have used Nabla continuously for at least twelve months, and they must have been practicing at Mankato Clinic for at least twelve months prior to adoption.
